Manzini is a major urban center located in the country of Eswatini. It serves as the capital of the Manzini Region. The city is the second largest urban area in the nation, following the capital, Mbabane. As of 2008, the city had a population of approximately 110,000 people. It is famously known as "The Hub" of Eswatini. This nickname reflects its importance to the country's movement and commerce. The city sits along the MR3 road, which is a primary route.

The history of the settlement began as a trading post in 1885. At that time, the area was known as Bremersdorp. This name came from Arthur Bremer, who sold his hotel to the British Colonial authorities. These authorities had been administering Swaziland since 1894. The settlement served as their national administrative headquarters. The name Bremersdorp used the word "dorp," which is an Afrikaans term for a village. However, the town was destroyed in 1902 during the Anglo-Boer War. Following this destruction, the administrative center was moved to Mbabane.

In 1960, the city underwent a significant name change. It reverted to its original Swazi name, Manzini. This change honored Chief Manzini Mbokane. He was a senior indvuna, or leader, and a trusted confidant of King Mbandzeni. The city's official status changed again in 1994. During this year, the Manzini Town Council became the Manzini City Council. This transition officially declared Manzini a city. Despite losing its administrative status in 1902, the town remained the commercial and agricultural heart of the nation.

The geography of Manzini features many distinct residential zones. These areas radiate outward from the Central Business District. To the west, on the highway to Mbabane, lies KaKhoza Township. This is a poor neighborhood that looks like an informal settlement. North of the downtown area, you will find Helemesi Estates. This middle-class area was built in the early 1990s on a former farm. The name Helemesi is a SiSwati corruption of the name Williams. This refers to Sydney Williams, a long-serving Resident Commissioner during British rule.

Other residential parts of the city show different social histories. Fairview Township was developed in 1964. It was Eswatini's first integrated residential neighborhood, built during the end of colonial rule. This area later expanded into Fairview North and Fairview South. To the east of downtown, upscale neighborhoods like Coates Valley were established in the 1960s. Nearby, the Madonsa Township contains up-market properties. These large homes were built between the 1990s and the early 2000s. To the south, the Ngwane Park Township serves lower and middle-class residents. This area has grown from a private farm since the 1970s.

Manzini is a vital center for trade and transportation. The Swaziland International Trade Fair is held here annually. This event began in the 1920s as an Agricultural and Mechanical Show. It is now the largest and best-attended annual event in the country. The city is also near important industrial and travel sites. The industrial site of Matsapha sits near the western border of the town. For many years, Matsapha International Airport served the area. This airport opened in the 1970s and was located 10 km to the west. Now, travelers use the King Mswati III International Airport. This new airport is 56.9 km to the east. The Agricultural Bank of China acted as a major financier for this new airport.

The climate in Manzini is classified as humid subtropical. This is known by the Köppen climate classification Cwa. This means the city experiences hot, rainy summers. The winters are characterized by mild and dry weather. The city also hosts various social and religious institutions. For example, the Voice of the Church is a Christian radio station. It was established in 1995 and began with one transmitter. Manzini is also connected to the world through town twinning. It is twinned with the city of Lancaster in the United States and Matsapha in Eswatini. Notable people from the city include the paralympian skier Anna Jochemsen, who was born there in 1985.
