Magnetite is very magnetic. It is the most magnetic mineral on Earth. It is attracted to magnets. It can even become a permanent magnet itself. People call naturally magnetic pieces lodestone. Ancient people used lodestone to find their way.

You can find magnetite in many places. It is often in black beach sands. Rivers carry it to the shore. Then, waves and currents gather it.
