He lived a long time ago. Historians think he lived in the late Middle Ages. He was the founder of a special school of math. This school was in Kerala, a place in India.

Madhava studied many things. He looked at shapes and stars. He also worked with algebra. Algebra is a way to use numbers and letters to solve puzzles. One of his biggest ideas was about infinite series. An infinite series is a list of numbers that goes on forever. Before Madhava, math mostly used finite numbers. Finite means the numbers have an end. Madhava moved math toward the infinite.

He was very good at measuring circles. He found ways to work with the number Pi. Pi is a special number used for circles. Madhava even found ways to fix small errors in his math. This made his answers very close to the truth. He made a table of sines. A sine is a part of a triangle. His values were very accurate.
