Lupin bean

language culture Maturity 5-7 Next article →

Lupin beans are small yellow seeds.

People eat them as a snack. They have been around a long time. Some were found in old tombs in Egypt.

In Egypt, people eat them at a big festival. In South America, they are a common food too. You can eat them with the skin on. Or, you can rub the skin off.

Some beans are very bitter. People must soak them in salt water first. This makes them taste better.

Other beans are called sweet lupins. These do not need soaking. They are a great way to get food energy.
