You place each foot on the opposite thigh. This pose comes from ancient India.

Many people use it to meditate. People in Hindu and Buddhist faiths use it. Some statues show gods in this pose.

The pose is named after a lotus flower. That flower grows in mud but blooms above water. This shows growth toward perfection.

There are different ways to sit. Easy pose is a simple way to cross legs. Half lotus is also an easier way.

Be careful when you try it. Forcing your legs can hurt your knees. It is best to go slow.
