Linda Lovelace was a well-known American actress. She was born Linda Susan Boreman on January 10, 1949. She grew up in a working-class family in The Bronx, New York. Her father, John Boreman, worked as a police officer. Her mother, Dorothy, worked as a waitress. Linda attended private Catholic schools during her youth. In high school, friends gave her the nickname "Miss Holy Holy." This was because she stayed away from sexual activity. Her family moved to Davie, Florida, when she was 16 years old.

Linda's career in films was very famous and controversial. She became a star in the 1972 film Deep Throat. This movie was incredibly popular with many mainstream audiences. It even received a review in the New York Times. The film was shown many times every day for over ten years. It became one of the first high-grossing X-rated videotapes. While the movie made over $600 million, Linda was paid only $1,250. Her husband, Chuck Traynor, took that money from her. In 1973, she was even inducted into the Golden Age of Porn Walk of Fame.

Later, Linda shared the difficult truth about her life. She wrote an autobiography called Ordeal in 1980. In her writing, she explained that her husband was abusive. She said he used violence to control her. Linda claimed he forced her into her film career at gunpoint. She said that watching her movies was like watching her being raped. These claims were met with different reactions from others. Some people believed her, while others questioned her stories. She eventually became a born-again Christian and spoke for the anti-pornography movement.

Linda also faced many serious health problems. When she was 20, she had a baby and put the child up for adoption. Later, she was in a car accident in New York City. She needed a blood transfusion to recover from her injuries. The blood had hepatitis in it because it was not screened properly. This caused her to need a liver transplant in 1987. She later married Larry Marchiano and had two children. They lived in Center Moriches on Long Island for a while. Eventually, her family moved to Colorado.

Linda spent her final years being very active in her beliefs. She spoke at colleges and government hearings. In 1986, she testified before the Meese Commission. She wanted to tell the world about the harms of the pornography industry. She also wrote another memoir called Out of Bondage. Sadly, Linda was in another car accident in April 2002. She suffered many internal injuries from the crash. She died on April 22, 2002, at the age of 53. Her husband and children were with her when she passed away. She is buried in Parker, Colorado.
