It is part of the Outer Hebrides. This island group sits near the Scottish mainland. Even though it has two names, it is one island. Mountains divide the land into two parts. The north is called Lewis. The south is called Harris.

Harris is very hilly. It has more than thirty high peaks. The highest peak is named Clisham. Lewis is much flatter. It has a very deep lake called Loch Suaineabhat.

Many people live and work here. Stornoway is the main town. People make a special cloth called Harris Tweed. They weave it by hand in their homes. Others work by fishing for prawns and crabs. Many visitors come to see the beautiful beaches. Some go to see the Callanish Stones. These are very old stones from 5,000 years ago.
