To Alberti, math was the very foundation of all science and art.

Alberti had a special way of looking at the world. He believed that all artists should learn from nature. He said the goal was to make art look like real objects. For him, beauty came from harmony. Harmony meant that every part of a work fit together perfectly.

His journey into art began with his travels. He was born in Genoa in 1404. His father was a wealthy man from Florence. Later, Alberti traveled to Rome to serve the papal court.
