He studied how tiny parts of matter are put together. He used X-rays to see inside crystals. Crystals are solid shapes made of many tiny atoms.

Bragg worked with his father. They found a way to use X-rays to map these atoms. They used a math rule called the Bragg equation. This rule helps scientists know where atoms are. In 1915, they won the Nobel Prize in Physics. Bragg was only 25 years old. He is still the youngest person to win this prize.

During a war, Bragg helped find where big guns were. He used a tool called a hot wire detector. This tool could hear the sound of loud booms.

Later, he led a big lab at Cambridge. He helped support the work to find the shape of DNA. This is the tiny part of life that holds our code. Bragg also loved the sea. He collected hundreds of different shells from South Australia. He even found a new kind of cuttlefish!
