Law of Thailand

society Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Thailand has many laws to help people live together. The most important law is the Constitution. It is the supreme law. This means it is more important than other laws. The 2017 constitution is the newest one. A special court helps make sure laws follow the Constitution.

There are also laws for different things. Some laws are for crime. The Penal Code lists crimes. It also says how to punish them. There are laws for drugs, too. These rules help keep people safe.

Other laws cover things like land and business. The Land Code tells people how they can own land. Some land belongs to the King. Other land is private. There are also laws for new ideas. These are called patents. A patent lets an inventor own their work. This stops others from selling it without permission. Thailand has three types of patents. They are invention patents, petty patents, and design patents. An invention patent lasts for 20 years. A petty patent lasts for 10 years. These rules help people create new things.
