It is common in many places. You can find it in Armenia, Iran, and Turkey. People in these areas have eaten it for a long time.

To make it, people mix wheat flour and water. They may use yeast to make the dough rise. Some people stretch the dough on a soft cushion. They might add poppy seeds or sesame seeds on top. Then, they bake it very fast. Many people use a tandoor. This is a hot clay oven. They slap the dough against the hot walls. It only takes 15 to 40 seconds to cook! You can also bake it on a metal plate called a saj.

Lavash is great for making wraps. You can wrap meat, cheese, or herbs inside it. It can be soft or hard. If it gets hard, you can add water to make it soft again. In Armenia, lavash is very special. At weddings, people put it on a bride's shoulders. This is a sign of luck and wealth. It is a beautiful part of their culture.
