Encarnación López Júlvez was a famous Spanish-Argentine artist. Most people knew her by her stage name, La Argentinita. She was a master of flamenco, which is a traditional dance from Spain. She was also a singer and a choreographer. A choreographer is someone who creates dance moves for others to follow. She was considered one of the greatest performers of her time. People loved her because she brought many different styles together. She combined flamenco with tango, bulerías, and boleros.

Her career involved many different steps and skills. She did not just dance with her feet. She often used castanets, which are small wooden instruments held in the hands. She would tap her heels to create a rhythmic beat. She also worked with orchestras to make her shows grand. In 1943, she showed her talent at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. For that show, she used her own dance moves. She even worked with the famous painter Salvador Dalí to create the scenery.
