In English-speaking places, people called it "Sukiyaki." This name came from a tasty Japanese beef dish. The song was a massive success. It sold over 13 million copies. In 1963, it reached number one in the United States. This made him the first Asian artist to have a number one song there. He was also the first Japanese artist to top the charts in Australia. Sakamoto went on a world tour to meet his fans. He visited many places like Germany and Sweden. He even appeared on American TV shows. Sadly, he died in 1985 during a plane crash. People still honor his work today. A Google Doodle even celebrated his music. His songs are still loved by many people.
