Kujula Kadphises was a leader who changed the world. He was a prince from a group called the Yuezhi. He lived a long time ago in a place called Bactria. Kujula worked to bring many groups together into one big group. This group was called a confederation. By doing this, he became the very first Kushan emperor. He is known as the founder of the Kushan Empire.

His empire grew by moving into new lands. Kujula and his son, Vima Takto, moved toward the east. They took over a land held by the Indo-Parthian kingdom. This happened sometime after 45 CE. Kujula's people became very rich after this. The Chinese people called them the Da Yuezhi. Other groups simply called them the Kushan king.

We know about Kujula from old things like coins and stones. He used a special writing called the Kharosthi script. On his coins, he gave himself many grand titles. One title was "Great King of Kings." Another title was "Son of the Divine Being." These titles showed how much power he had.

Kujula's coins show that he met many different cultures. Some of his copper coins looked like Roman coins. One coin even had a face that looked like the Roman leader Augustus. This shows that the Kushans and Romans were aware of each other. Kujula was also a follower of the Hindu god Shiva. This is clear from his religious beliefs and his titles.

Kujula started a family line of very powerful rulers. An old stone called the Rabatak inscription tells us about his family. It says Kujula was the great-grandfather of a king named Kanishka. His son was Vima Takto. His grandson was Vima Kadphises. Kujula's work helped his family rule for a very long time.
