It lived long ago in the Eromanga Sea. This was an ancient sea that covered much of Australia. The water there was very cold. It was sometimes close to freezing.

This animal had a unique body. It had a short neck and a long head. Its head ended in a rostrum, which is a snout.

It used four flippers to swim. These flippers were like paddles. The back flippers were larger than the front ones. They could create a wide wingspan when moving.

Kronosaurus was a top predator. This means it was at the top of the food chain. It had large, cone-shaped teeth. These teeth helped it eat big prey. It likely ate sea turtles and other reptiles.

Its bite was very strong. Some fossils show that young ones were even attacked by adults. This shows they may have fought each other. It also faced competition from large sharks.
