They lived in several cities, including Rieti and Reggio Emilia. During this time, Kobe became fluent in Italian. 
In the 1996 NBA draft, the Charlotte Hornets selected Bryant with the 13th pick. However, he was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. 
Bryant's achievements extended far beyond the basketball court. He earned two gold medals as a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 2008 and 2012. 
Tragically, Bryant's life ended in January 2020. He and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.
