Erving changed how people play the game. He is famous for his amazing slam dunks. Before him, many saw dunking as just a way to show strength. Some people even thought it was unsportsmanlike. Erving showed that dunking could be full of grace and artistry. He would launch himself from many feet away from the hoop. He used the dunk as a smart way to score points. This made the move a basic skill for all players.
