Jeane Dixon was a famous American psychic. A psychic is someone who claims to see the future. She was also an astrologer. An astrologer studies how stars and planets might affect people. Dixon said she got her gifts from God. She was a Roman Catholic.

Many people knew her because of her predictions. She once said a president would die in office. This happened to John F. Kennedy. She also predicted that Robert Kennedy would be hurt in a hotel. That also came true. Because of this, some leaders listened to her. President Richard Nixon even met with her in the White House.

However, many of her guesses were wrong. She thought a war would start in 1958. She thought the Soviet Union would be first on the moon. She also thought a certain person would win an election. These things did not happen. Some people call this the "Jeane Dixon effect." This is when people remember the right guesses but forget the wrong ones. Dixon died in 1997 in Washington, D.C.
