Water can be in the air. It can be under the ground. It is even inside plants and animals. Most of the water is salty. Only a tiny bit is fresh.

Water moves in a circle. Heat from the sun moves water. It turns water into vapor. This vapor goes up into the air. Then it falls as rain or snow.

This water has been here for a long time. It has been around for 4 billion years. The water does not leave the Earth. It just moves from place to place.

We need water to live. It is a basic need for all life. It is a very special part of our world.
