Scientists study hue as a part of color. They look at how it is different from other parts. These other parts are lightness, brightness, and saturation. Saturation is how intense or vivid a color looks.

We can use numbers to talk about hue. Many people use a color wheel. On this wheel, hue is like a spot on a circle. We often say red is at 0 degrees. This helps us find other colors by their angle.

In art, a hue is a pure color. It has no white or black added to it. If you add white, you make a tint. If you add black, you make a shade.

Our brains also help us see. A part of the brain called the V4 processes hues. It uses tiny areas called globs to do this work. This helps us know exactly what color we are seeing.
