It sits near the coast of Iran. The island is in a place called the Strait of Hormuz.

The island looks very colorful. Many rocks and beaches are a bright red color. Local people call this red earth "Golak." This red color is used for art and cooking. It also brings many tourists to the island.

Nature is special here too. There are mangrove trees that live in salty water. These trees can stay under the sea and still live. Many birds live on the island. You might see sooty gulls or great thick-knees there.

People have lived on the island for a long time. Stone tools found there are over 40,000 years old. Long ago, the Portuguese took control of the island. They built a large fort to keep invaders away.

Today, you can visit the Dr. Nadalian Museum.
