life science Maturity 7-9 Next article →

A tiny germ can hurt your liver.

This germ moves through blood. It can spread if blood touches blood.

You cannot get it from hugging or kissing. You also cannot get it from food or water.

Many people do not feel sick at first. Some people might feel tired or have a fever. The germ can stay in the liver for many years. This can cause the liver to get very sick.

Doctors use blood tests to find the germ. There is no way to stop it with a shot. But, there is good news! Most people can be cured with special medicine.
