Long ago, people thought it was the same as another mineral. They called both of them calamine. Later, people found they were different. Hemimorphite is rarer than the other one. It has a special name because of its crystals. These crystals have a hemimorph development. This means the ends of the crystals look different. One end is blunt. The other end is sharp.
