Head shake

language culture Maturity 11-13 Next article →

You can move your head side to side. This is a head shake.

Most people use it to say no. It can show you do not like something. A slow shake can show you are upset.

Some places use it to say yes! In Bulgaria, this means yes. In those lands, a nod means no.

Babies might do this too. A hungry baby moves their head up and down. They turn it side to side to say no to food.

It is a way to talk without words.

Do you use your head to talk?
