Glengarry Glen Ross is a famous stage play. David Mamet wrote it in 1983. The story takes place over two days in Chicago. It follows four men who sell real estate. These men feel a lot of pressure at work. Their bosses hold a contest to find the best sellers. The winners get prizes. The losers will lose their jobs.

This pressure makes the men act in bad ways. Some men use lies to make sales. Others try to steal office files to help themselves. One man, Richard Roma, is a very good salesman. He is also dishonest. He uses his skill to trick people. Another man, Shelly Levene, is struggling. He needs money for his daughter's medical care.

The play has been very successful. David Mamet won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this work. Many famous actors have played these parts. Joe Mantegna won a Tony Award for his role as Roma. The play was also made into a movie in 1992. People still perform this play on stage today. It is a well-known story about how people act when they are desperate.
