He was a pilot who helped us learn about space. On August 6, 1961, he flew the Vostok 2 spaceship. This mission made him the second human to orbit the Earth. He was the fourth person to ever travel to space. At the time, he was just under 26 years old. He remained the youngest person to fly in space until 2021.

Titov was a person of many firsts. He was the first person to sleep while in orbit. He found that his arms floated in the air because of the lack of gravity. He had to use a security belt to hold his limbs down so he could sleep better. He was also the first person to suffer from space sickness. This made him feel very unwell while he was in orbit. He even became the first person to vomit in space.

Titov also helped us see the Earth in new ways. He was the first human photographer in space. He took the first manual photographs from orbit. He also used a Konvas-Avtomat movie camera to film the Earth for ten minutes.

Titov was born in the village of Verkhneye Zhilino. He studied at the Stalingrad Military Aviation School to become a pilot.
