Gen Z protests are a series of movements led by young people. These groups often lead protests or riots in many different countries. They use these actions to speak up about problems in their societies. Many of these young people feel that things are unfair. They might face issues like not having enough jobs or money. Some feel that their governments are not acting in a fair way. These protests have become a major way for youth to seek change.

These movements often happen because of shared problems. In places like Peru and Mexico, income inequality is a big reason. In the Philippines, people protest against political corruption. Some people in Madagascar face extreme poverty and lack clean water. Many young people also struggle to find work or access basic things. They often feel that the standard of living is going down. These shared struggles help bring many different people together to act.

History shows that young people have been active for a long time. In 2010, students in the United Kingdom held protests. In 2011, there were riots in the UK and the Arab Spring in Syria. By 2018, the March for Our Lives movement began in the United States. The term "Gen Z protests" was first used in a 2019 article by Ipsos. This article looked at the Fridays for Future protests. Recent years have seen very big changes because of these protests. In 2024, a revolution happened in Bangladesh. This was a major success and inspired many other countries. It led to the creation of the National Citizen Party in Bangladesh. This was the first political party led by Gen Z. In 2025, the movement spread to Africa and South America. Countries like Nepal and Indonesia saw huge protests as well.

Young people use modern tools to organize their actions. They use social media apps like TikTok and Instagram to talk. Many use Discord to exchange plans very quickly. They also use symbols from pop culture to show they are united. Some protesters use the Straw Hat flag from the anime One Piece. Others have used characters from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid. These symbols help them create a common way to communicate.
