After seeing a violinist named Niccolò Paganini, he practiced for fourteen hours every day. He also invented new ways to teach music. One way was called a masterclass. In a masterclass, a teacher works with many students at once. He also created the "symphonic poem." This is a piece of music that tells a story. He used a trick called "thematic transformation" to change musical ideas. This helped his music feel like it was moving or changing.

Liszt was born on October 22, 1811, in a village called Doborján.

His father, Adam Liszt, was a musician who played the flute and guitar. Franz began making up music on the piano before he was five years old. He gave his first public concert in 1820 when he was nine. Later, he moved to Vienna to study with famous teachers. One teacher was Carl Czerny. Another important teacher was Antonio Salieri. These teachers were very impressed by how well Liszt could play by sight.

They played for the public to see who was better. A lady named Princess Belgiojoso said Thalberg was first, but Liszt was unique.

Many people still love Liszt's music today.

His piano pieces are still played in concerts all over the world. Some of his most famous works are the Hungarian Rhapsodies. He also wrote pieces called "Années de pèlerinage," which means "Years of Pilgrimage." Other famous pieces include "La campanella" and his Piano Sonata in B minor. His ideas helped lead the way to new music in the 20th century. Even though he lived a long time ago, his talent still shines.
