He was born in Barbados. He became the first black captain of the West Indies team. This helped break old barriers in the sport.

Worrell was a great batter. He also bowled with skill. He was part of a group called "The Three Ws." He was the first batter to be part of two 500-run partnerships.

Worrell was known for his kind heart. In 1962, a player named Nari Contractor was hurt during a game. Worrell was one of the first people to give blood. This helped save the player's life.

He was a great leader. In 1960, he led his team to Australia. They played such good cricket that they had a big parade.

Many people honor him today. The Frank Worrell Trophy is given to the winner of matches between Australia and the West Indies. His face is even on a Barbados banknote. He was the first sportsman to have a memorial at Westminster Abbey. He was also put in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
