Malcolm Marshall was a famous cricket player from Barbados. He was a fast bowler. This means he threw the ball at very high speeds. He was not a tall man. Many other great bowlers were much taller than him. Still, he was one of the best in the world. He used a fast ball that bounced high. This move is called a bouncer. He could also make the ball curve in the air.

Marshall was a very brave player. In one match, he broke his thumb in two places. He did not stop playing. He even went out to bat with one arm in a cast. His team loved his courage. He helped the West Indies win the 1979 World Cup. He also took 376 wickets in Test matches. This was a record for his team for many years.

He was a great teacher too. He helped young players learn how to play well. One player, Shaun Pollock, said Marshall was his mentor. In 2009, he joined the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. This is a special place for the best players in history.
