He worked for King Louis XV. The king even called him his thinker.

Quesnay studied how money and goods move. He wrote a famous work called the Tableau économique. This was an Economic Table. It was one of the first ways to study the economy. He believed that farming was the most important job. He said farms create the real wealth of a nation.

He also studied China. He wrote a book about Chinese politics. He liked how China used scholars to lead. He thought farming was also vital there. Some people even called him the "Confucius of Europe" because he liked Chinese ideas so much.

Quesnay had many friends who studied these topics. One famous man named Adam Smith met him in Paris. Smith wrote about Quesnay in his own famous books. Quesnay lived a long life. He died in 1774. He left behind many big ideas about how the world works.
