Most fish come from the ocean. About 90 percent of all catches come from saltwater. Many people work near the coast. This is where fish are easy to find. Some people catch fish for fun. Others catch fish to sell for money.

Fisheries are very important for the world. About 500 million people rely on them. In 2022, many people worked in small fisheries. These workers helped provide food for many. In 2016, the world produced 171 million tonnes of fish.
