Faith healing is the practice of using prayer or gestures.

Some people believe these actions bring help from a god. This help can heal a person's body or spirit. Many Christians believe in this idea. They often use a way called the laying on of hands.

This means placing hands on a person while praying.

Stories in the Bible show many people being healed. Jesus is a major figure in these stories. He healed a blind man and a paralyzed man. The apostle Paul also believed healing was a gift from the Holy Spirit. Some groups, like Pentecostals, believe these miracles can still happen today.

Other groups have different views. The Catholic Church says there are two ways to heal. One way is through medicine and science. The other way is through divine grace. They also say that prayer does not always cure every sickness.

Most scientists do not agree with faith healing. They say there is no proof that prayer cures disease. It is very important to use medical care for serious illness. Using only faith instead of doctors can be very dangerous.
