Known as "la Mère Brazier," she was famous for her incredible skill in the kitchen. She believed that cooking was not complicated if you stayed organized. Instead of making fancy or over-elaborate dishes, she focused on high-quality, simple food. This style was part of a tradition of famous female cooks in Lyon called the Mères lyonnaises. Her hard work and talent eventually made her a legend in the culinary world.

Brazier learned to cook while growing up on a small farm. By the age of five, she could already make sweet and savory tarts. One of her first dishes was barbaton, which used bacon, onion, potatoes, and garlic. Later, she worked as a maid and nanny for a large family in Lyon. While working there, she began to cook for them during the summer. She did not have any recipe books to help her. Instead, she learned by doing and by asking for advice from others.

Her professional training happened under a demanding chef named Françoise Fillioux.

At the Bistrot Fillioux, Brazier mastered many celebrated dishes. One famous meal was volaille truffée demi-deuil, which means "truffled chicken in half-mourning." This dish featured a Bresse chicken with black truffles tucked under the skin. When cooked, the black truffles showed through the white skin. This gave the chicken a striking black-and-white look. She also learned to prepare various types of game, like partridges and larks.

In 1921, Brazier opened her own restaurant at 12 rue Royale in Lyon.

She started with only 12,000 francs and a small space for 15 diners. She eventually opened a second restaurant in a wooden chalet at the Col de la Luère. In 1933, she achieved a massive milestone in the food world. She became the first person to be awarded six Michelin stars. She earned three stars for her Lyon restaurant and three for her second location. No other chef reached this level of success for another sixty-four years.

Brazier's influence can still be felt in kitchens today. She trained many famous chefs, such as Paul Bocuse and Bernard Pacaud. Even during the difficult years of the Second World War, she refused to lower her standards. She was once even imprisoned for a week because she would not follow food rationing rules. Her recipes were published in a book in 1977 to preserve her secrets. Today, her original restaurant in Lyon still serves her classic dishes.
