Epictetus was a Greek thinker.

Epictetus
Epictetus

He was born as a slave. He studied hard to learn. Later, he became free. He then began to teach others.

He moved to a place called Nicopolis. There, he started a school. He taught that we cannot control everything. We should stay calm when things change.

But we can control our own actions. We must use discipline to do this. His student, Arrian, wrote down his words.

These books helped many people. Even emperors read his ideas. He showed that wisdom is a way of life.
