An epic is a very long story. It tells about a brave hero. These stories can be in books or movies.

Long ago, people told these stories out loud. They were poems that people sang. This is called a folk epic. These stories were about heroes and their big trips.

Later, people began to write them down. These are called literary epics. Writing them down helps the stories stay safe for a long time.

An epic hero is a special person. They are often very good or very strong. They show us what a group of people cares about.

Today, we see epics in many ways. They can be in video games or shows. We still love watching big adventures!
