She did not plan her stories out before she started. Instead, she typed them as the events unfolded in her mind. This helped her write with great speed. Some people even thought she used secret helpers called ghost writers. However, Blyton strongly denied these rumors and said she wrote them herself.

Her interest in stories began when she was a young girl.

She was born in East Dulwich, London, in 1897. Her father taught her to love birds, flowers, and wild animals. He also taught her to play the piano. Later, she stayed at Seckford Hall in Suffolk. This place had a secret passageway and a haunted room. These real places helped give her ideas for her fantasy books.

Blyton's career had many big moments and different names.

Her first book was a collection of poems called Child Whispers in 1922. She also wrote many books for teachers during the 1920s and 1930s. In 1937, she published her first full-length book, Adventures of the Wishing-Chair. Sometimes she used a different name to write stories. She used the name Mary Pollock for some books in 1940. People soon found out and the books were released under her real name.
