He worked in movies and on TV for seventy years. He was part of nearly 700 different shows. People often called him Manoy. Many people say he was the greatest Filipino actor of all time.

Early in his career, he often played mean characters. He was so good at playing villains that he won three FAMAS Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a row. He even trained with swords for three months to prepare for a film. Later, he became a director. A director is the person who leads the film crew. He directed many popular films, including action and spy stories. He won many awards for his work as a director, too.

Garcia played many different kinds of roles. He acted in political thrillers and stories about real people. In 2012, he won awards for playing a grumpy elderly man in the film Bwakaw. He died in 2019 after an accident on a film set. Because of him, a new law called the Eddie Garcia Law was made in 2024. This law helps keep film workers safe.
