These rules help send video and sound to many places. One way to send TV is through a satellite. This uses the DVB-S standard. Another way is through cables in your home. This uses the DVB-C standard. Some TV signals travel through the air to antennas. This is called terrestrial TV, or DVB-T. There are even rules for small mobile devices. We call this DVB-H.

Different ways of sending TV use different methods. These methods help the signal stay strong. For example, DVB-T2 is a newer rule for terrestrial TV. It makes the signal more robust, which means it stays strong. It also lets more data pass through. This can increase the bit rate by over 30 percent. In some places, it can even increase it by over 50 percent. Many countries use these rules. These include Australia, South Africa, and India. Some countries in Asia and Africa use them too. DVB also helps make 3D TV possible. It helps people enjoy shows on many different screens.
