The needle gun had a profound impact on global military tactics and spread. A Prussian soldier could fire about six rounds per minute. This allowed them to fire multiple shots while lying on the ground. In contrast, an Austrian soldier using a muzzle-loader had to stand up to reload. This gave the Prussians a major tactical advantage.
