You do not need to pay an expert for help. You can build, fix, or change things yourself.

People do DIY for many reasons. Some want to save money. Others want to make things that are unique. Some people just love the skill of making things.

This idea is very old. Long ago, Greeks built a temple in Italy. It had symbols that worked like modern instruction books.

These symbols showed how the parts fit together. In the 1900s, magazines taught people how to work on farms. By the 1950s, many people used DIY for home projects.

Today, DIY is a big part of our world. You can use the internet to learn new ways. Sites like YouTube show you how to make art or clothes.

Some people make their own music or small books called zines. DIY is a way to share ideas and work with others.
