Didi Kempot was a famous singer from Indonesia. He wrote about 700 songs. Most of his songs used the Javanese language. He sang a style called campursari. This means a "mixture of essences." It mixes pop music with local styles.

Didi started by singing on the street. He was a busker. He lived in a very small room with eight friends. The room was so narrow they could only sleep on their sides. He used a tape recorder to make his music. He sent these tapes to music studios. One studio called him back. This helped him start his big career.

Many of his songs were about sad love stories. People called him "The Godfather of the Broken-Hearted." He was very popular in the Netherlands and Suriname. This is because many Javanese people live there. He even won an award from a president in Suriname.

In 2020, Didi held a live concert at his house. He used the music to help others. He raised a lot of money for people in Indonesia. This money helped those facing a sickness. Didi died in May of 2020. He left behind a wife and two children.
