"Despacito" is a famous Spanish-language song that changed music history.

It is a mix of Latin pop and reggaeton, which is a style with a strong beat. The song was made by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. They wanted to create something with a "swinging" feeling. This song helped spread Spanish music to the whole world. It reached the top of the music charts in 47 different countries.

Many people love it because it is very catchy and fun to dance to.

Making the song was a careful process involving many talented people. Luis Fonsi and Erika Ender wrote the lyrics in late 2015. Fonsi used a Gibson Emmylou Harris guitar to help write it. They decided to add an "urban injection" to the song's sound. Daddy Yankee then added his own rap verses in a studio in Miami.

The producers, Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres, helped shape the final sound. They used many different instruments to make it special.

The music uses unique sounds to show its Puerto Rican roots. It starts with a cuatro, which is a traditional string instrument.

This instrument gives the song a very special character. The song also uses percussion like the güira and cowbell. When the singers say the word "despacito," which means "slowly," the music actually slows down. This is a clever trick called text painting. It helps the music match the meaning of the words.

"Despacito" became a massive success all over the globe. In the United States, it was the first Spanish song to top the Billboard Hot 100 since 1996. It stayed at number one for 16 weeks. The song also won three awards at the Latin Grammy Awards.

Later, a remix was made with Canadian singer Justin Bieber. Bieber sang in Spanish for the very first time. This version helped the song reach even more listeners in places like Canada and the United Kingdom.

The song's impact can be seen on the internet too. The music video shows beautiful parts of Puerto Rico.

It was once the most-viewed video on YouTube. It was the first video to reach milestones like three billion and even eight billion views. It also broke records for the most likes on the site. Even years later, it is remembered as a huge moment for Latin music. Billboard even called it the most successful Latin song of the 21st century.
