She is best known for her relationship with Samson. Samson was a Nazirite who served as the final judge of Israel. He was famous for having great strength. The leaders of the Philistines wanted to stop him.

They offered Delilah 1,100 silver coins to find the secret of his power. This story is a very famous part of the Hebrew Bible.

Delilah tried several ways to discover Samson's secret. First, she used seven green withes to bind him. Samson easily snapped them. Next, she tried using new ropes, but they also failed.

This allowed her to hand him over to the Philistine chiefs.

Many people have written about Delilah over many centuries. Jewish traditions offer different views on her life. Some thinkers, like Josephus, saw her as a Philistine. The Talmud suggests she used many ways to get Samson to speak. Some medieval stories even link her to Micah's mother. This is because both stories involve 1,100 silver coins. Other scholars wonder if her story shows a fear of people from other lands. They look at how she compares to other women in the Bible.

Christian scholars have also shared many ideas about her. Some have compared her to Judas Iscariot. Both Delilah and Judas were paid in silver to betray someone.
