This gas is very toxic. This means it is poisonous. If a person breathes it, they can feel sick. It can cause headaches or dizziness. It can even cause death.

Cyanogen can make a blue flame. It burns very hot in oxygen. It has the second hottest flame known. Only one other gas burns hotter.

Scientists use this gas to make plant food. This is called fertilizer. It also helps make a material called nitrocellulose.

We can find cyanogen in space. It is found in comets. In 1910, people saw it in the tail of Halley's Comet. People were very afraid back then. They thought the comet tail would poison the Earth. Some people even wore gas masks in New York. But the tail was too thin to hurt us.
