geography Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Ciudad Guayana is a large city in Venezuela.

It sits in Bolívar State. The city is built where two rivers meet. The Orinoco River and the Caroní River join here. The Caroní flows through the middle of the city. It splits the city into two main parts. To the east is the old town called San Félix. To the west is the newer area called Puerto Ordaz.

The city is a very busy place for work. It has big industries for iron, steel, and aluminum. It also makes power from water. These are called hydroelectric plants. Two of these plants, Macagua and Caruachi, are inside the city.
