Chuck steak

language culture Maturity 5-7 Next article →

Chuck steak is a tasty cut of beef. It comes from the neck and shoulder of a cow. This meat has a rich flavor. It also has a good mix of meat and fat. People often use it to make ground beef.

Some chuck steaks are shaped like a rectangle. They are often about one inch thick. These steaks might have a bone inside. The bone can look like the number 7. Because of this, some call it a 7-bone steak. This is a good way to save money on beef. In the United Kingdom, people call it braising steak.

There are many ways to cook this meat. You can cook it on a grill. You can also cook it slow in a pot with liquid. This is called pot roasting. Slow cooking helps the meat get soft. This happens because the meat has collagen. Collagen is a part of the meat that melts when it cooks.

Some parts of the chuck are used for different things. The top blade part is good for grilling. The fifth rib can be like a prime rib roast. It even has more lean meat. Other parts are used for stews or slow cooking.
