He was born in a seaside town called Granville. As a young boy, he loved art. He even sold small sketches to make money.

Dior later opened an art gallery. He met many famous artists there. These artists helped shape his view of beauty. After some hard times, he began working for other designers. He learned how to make elegant clothes.

In 1946, he started his own fashion house.

These dresses had rounded shoulders and full skirts. They also had very small waists. This style helped women love fashion again after the war.

Dior loved many things. He named a perfume after his sister. He also used lucky charms for good luck. He believed fashion was a way to keep art alive.
