A man named José González-Lander led the plan for many years. The system has 48 stations in total.

There are different lines for the trains. Line 1 is the longest. It runs from Propatria to Palo Verde. Line 2 runs from El Silencio to Zoológico. Line 3 runs from Plaza Venezuela to La Rinconada. There is also a line called Line 4. This line is actually part of Line 2. It helps move people from Plaza Venezuela to Capuchinos.

The system also uses buses. These are called Metrobus.

The buses help people reach places the trains cannot.

Sometimes the trains have trouble. In 2022, only 23 of the 169 trains worked well. Many trains stopped working because they needed more care. Power failures also cause delays for riders. This makes it hard for people to travel on time.
