It sits on the Hengchun Peninsula. The ground here is made of sand, gravel, and clay. This land is part of the Kenting National Park. The cape marks where the East China Sea meets the Philippine Sea.

People have lived here for a long time. Experts found signs of people living there in 3100 BC. Later, the Paiwan people lived in the hills nearby. Many groups of people moved through this area over the years.

One of the most famous parts is the lighthouse. It was built a long time ago. It was finished in 1883. During the time of Japanese rule, the cape was a place for whaling.
